CAHAYA

Design & Architecture
Architecture that calms, not commands.
Design Intent
Cahaya is architect-designed, drawing from both Indonesian and Japanese influences.
The design emphasises simplicity and material honesty, with careful attention to how light moves through space over the course of the day
Movement & Practice
Materials are chosen for durability and tactility, not trend.
The retreat is designed to age well, aesthetically, structurally and emotionally.
Longevity is prioritised over novelty.
A collaborative design approach.
The interiors are being developed in collaboration with an interior designer, ensuring spaces feel considered, comfortable, and enduring.
The gardens and external spaces are designed by an award-winning landscape gardener, shaping how the retreat is approached, experienced, and inhabited.
Flow & Experience
Movement through the retreat is deliberate but unforced.
Spaces open gradually.
Transitions are soft.
Nothing feels rushed or compressed.
The architecture supports how people actually move, rest, and occupy space.
